April6 virtual race to foster bounds among the Mexican diaspora

The Mexican Foreign Affairs Ministry of Mexico mobilizes Mexicans abroad on the 2021 International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, intending to foster relationships and solidarity among the diaspora. Approximately 20 million Mexicans live outside the country.

Around 70 consulates and Mexican institutions worldwide relay this vent to mobilize the diaspora members, building on the friendship and solidarity message conveyed by April6. Through the Institute of Mexicans Abroad and the Technical Council for Diplomacy and Sport Cooperation, the Ministry invites people to register and participate in this virtual commemoration of April6, by sharing a #WhiteCard picture on social networks wearing a green t-shirt to commemorate Mexico 2021 independence anniversary.

This event is a perfect example of sport used as a tool to build national cohesion, get out of isolation, reinforce individual bounds and the feeling to be part of a group beyond frontiers.
