Forum “Diplomacy and sports cooperation in a world in turmoil” organized by the Mexican Government

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Technical Council for Diplomacy and Sport Cooperation, part of the Mexican Cooperation Agency, the Ibero-American University, and the Matías Romero Institute will organize on Tuesday April 6 a significant Forum entitled “Diplomacy and sports cooperation in a world in turmoil”. How can sustainable development be promoted through sports diplomacy? How can sports diplomacy be used to promote issues of health, social inclusion, well-being and peace? These are some of the questions to be answered during this full day including 4 sessions.

Mr. Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, will give a keynote speech at the beginning of the day, from 10:10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Mexican Time. Mr. Marcelo Ebrard, Foreign Affairs Minister of Mexico, will attend the event, as well as Mrs. Gabriela Ramos, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences, among other speakers.

Peace and Sport is thrilled to participate in this Forum as Mexico has been one of the most committed countries in the April6 celebration for the last past years. The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indeed decided to join the April 6 initiative for the last past years as it coincides with its efforts since 2019 to establish a sports diplomacy and cooperation project. Mexico acknowledges and supports multilateral and UN initiatives dedicated to fostering the potential of sport as a facilitator of development and peace.
