Paris 2024 leads this celebration and decided to use the #WhiteCard symbol to highlight the IDSDP among the toolbox activations shared with the French schools. The Organizing Committee proposed that schools mobilize the pupils around the #WhiteCard symbol, joining the international community to promote sport as a values-driven tool and leverage to build peace in the minds.

This annual weeklong event supports participation in sport among young people to rally the educational community around the values of citizenship and sport. Olympic and Paralympic Week is a joint initiative between the French Ministry of National Education and Youth, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Sport and the sporting movement (CNOSF, CPSF), as well as school and university sports federations (UNSS, USEP, UGSEL, FFSU), and the Olympic and Paralympic Federations.

On April 3, in the Ariane district of Nice, children from the Jean Piaget elementary school displayed a giant #WhiteCard in the schoolyard. The event was attended by high-level delegation including Mr. Christophe Mirmand, Prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Mr. Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, and high-level athletes.

On the other hand, the city of Beausoleil, labeled ‘Terre de Jeux 2024’, also mobilized for the launch of the #WhiteCard campaign and the launch of the Olympic and Paralympic Week. The label ‘Terre de Jeux’, created by Paris 2024, supports local authorities who wish to commit themselves to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Marlene Harnois, Champion for Peace and Taekwondo Olympic Medalist, join the event and inspired the students with her experience and sporting career.
