Pyrros Dimas: Sport leads to a “way of life” filled with positive values!

Pyrros Dimas: Sport leads to a “way of life” filled with positive values!

I am a Champion for Peace at Peace and Sport, I share my story and raise my whitecard to celebrate sport values!

  • Sport is not only about competitions and medals! It is about the whole journey you take to reach the goals and all the values that you cultivate through this procedure!
Sport keeps you healthy, it teaches you to keep focused, never give up and to fight for your dreams. Sport also pushes you to find solutions to overcome obstacles in all aspects of life. Thanks to sport I have learnt about discipline, respect for the rules and for the others. All this helped me to structure my life around those positive values.
As a Champion for Peace, I want to convince the younger generations of the unlimited power of sport, and advance together towards more inclusive and peaceful societies.

Thanasis Delenikas: As a coach my priority is to teach values!

Thanasis Delenikas: As a coach my priority is to teach values!

I am a Fencing coach in Sabre from Greece. I currently train the qualified elite athete, Dora Goudoura to participate in the 2020-1 Olympic Games in Tokyo! As a coach my priority is to first pass the values of sport to the athletes!

  • In 1993, at the age of 12, I began my journey in the magical world οf fencing, in particular sabre. From 1996 to 2002 I was a member of the national team, and in 2008 I decided to return as a coach. Through coaching athletes of all age categories, I have taught and learned a lot in relation to the real values of sports, the ethos, and the competitiveness I have seen in their eyes. Believing in these values, I evolved in my career and managed to lead my athletes to a top level of athletic performance. Fencing, in addition to being a complete physical exercise, teaches discipline and creates a strong personality. Among my primary goals has been to help my athletes realize the dream of every athlete and coach, that is, to participate in the Olympic Games, which I finally achieved together with my elite athlete Dora Goudoura. However, my underlying, timeless pursuit has been and always will be to, first and foremost, pass on to my athletes core moral values, and then to help them become as good fencers as possible.

Dora Goudoura : Fencing passed me values without realizing it!

Dora Goudoura : Fencing passed me values without realizing it!

I am Dora Goudoura, Fencing Champion of Greece, recently qualified to participate in the 2020-1 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

  • In Fencing I learned to respect and appreciate my fellow athletes, who are also my opponents. I experience equality and apply equity!

In Fencing, strategic thinking is an innate and automatic process that acts on your subconscious! You learn to distinguish when to play with passion and faith and when to wait, watch and finally choose the right time to achieve the target!

Fencing shapes and improves your personality! In order to reach and remain at a high level, you must discover your weaknesses, work on them and constantly evolve! This particular methodology for improving your personality exists only in sport and competitive sport! Personalities based on sport values are the positive core of a society!
